Sex and the City

Carrie Colouring With Lily

After originally wanting to see the movie a few weeks ago before realising that it wasn’t actually released yet, me and my mum finally experienced ‘Sex and the City’. I know, I know, how unbelievably lame of me. I am a fan of the original series, and I do believe that people who aren’t fans of said series probably aren’t going to like the film which is, let’s face it, just a two and a half hour long special episode.

The film follows the four best friends three years after the original series ended, Miranda now living in Brooklyn with her husband and son, Charlotte having adopted a Chinese girl, Samantha in love with a Hollywood actor and Carrie still very much together with ‘Mr. Big’. I wouldn’t want to spoil what happens for you, would I? So, let’s just say it’s a bit of an emotional rollercoaster that all works out for the best in the end. Oh yes, there is a lot of sex too, sushi, and a trip to Mexico.

I admit to being a girly girl at the best of times and I love the city life (though I have never been to New York) so naturally I can somewhat relate to the characters – my favourite being Miranda Hobbes (played by Cynthia Nixon). It is one huge chick flick with a little romance and comedy and I don’t know any guy who would enjoy it for a single moment!

It was a no brain required, very easy and fun to watch film which I would recommend to hopelessly romantic girly girls around the world. If you’re not sure about it, tune your television set into late night Paramount Comedy (UK only, sorry I’m not sure about listings for the US/rest of world) and give the series a go.
