Computing

15 May 2008, 12:52

As you may or may not already know, I am studying for a bachelors degree in Computer Science (to be completed in June 2009). This is not a degree for the lighthearted as it does involve considerably more maths than computers. On the off-chance you fancy learning a little about this subject, I am going to be writing about it (as well as other general computery bits) here.

My History In Computing

Since I was in primary school I have been interested in computers and computing, and have been creating websites since 1998, from my local library. I always wanted to know how computers worked and be involved with the creatiuon of what appeared on screen. Well, here I am!

When I was sixteen I earned an A* grade GCSE in IT, and an A grade in maths GCSE (something that my teacher had previously predicted to be unattainable by me). I was accepted into sixth form college where I scored triple distinction in a BTEC National Diploma in IT (equivalent of 3 A grade A-levels) and a C grade A-level in pure maths and statistics. During this time, I also completed the first semester of a Cisco Certified Networks Associate diploma.

Between the age of fifteen and now I have been in unpaid employment to design websites for two local schools, worked as a web applications developer for a firm that created absenteeism software for the likes of John Lewis (in my first year of university), and also an IT techniain for a local computer shop.
