Personal Website?
If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of personal websites or blogs, you’ve come to the right place. This is exactly the purpose that Kachii.com aspires to. A personal website, to me, is a place where the website creator can freely express him/herself in the form of writing, drawing, photography, etc. without the restrictions on communication that are faced in day to day life. Most personal websites also have a ‘blog’, or web log, where frequent life updates are posted.
The personal blog, an on-going diary or commentary by an individual, is the traditional, most common blog. Personal bloggers usually take pride in their blog posts, even if their blog is never read by anyone but them. Blogs often become more than a way to just communicate; they become a way to reflect on life or works of art. Blogging can have a sentimental quality. Few personal blogs rise to fame and the mainstream, but some personal blogs quickly garner an extensive following.
Sounds very mundane, I know, but some people actually find it interesting to read. In most cases it is written mostly if not solely for the enjoyment of the creator – a public journal or diary, if you so wish. The creator may invite members of the public to comment on the events posted.
Whilst most people post on the internet in order to avoid arousing conflict in the ‘real world’, some people have been fired, sued and even arrested for posting confidential, ‘inappropriate’ or defamatory remarks. Bloggers need to become constantly more aware of posting such material and protecting their identities online.
People who are also into website design as well as blogging may show off their skills/creativity by programming additional content (such as in my case, a photo gallery based on my Flickr page) and flashy designs.
I have been a member of the so-called blogging community since soon after the turn of the millennium and this is the way that I intend Kachii.com to stay in the forseeable future – although my blogs haven’t always been situated here.
